Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). The couple was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five and enrolled in at the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized she would like to be an actor and for several years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned performing and singing. When she was ten, she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford teacher of drama. After eight consistent auditions the producer David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast to play the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first film appearance coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002).
